I Get By With A Little Help from by Friends...

Alright I'm really sorry that I haven't posted in awhile --- actually a week...but things have been pretty hectic.

Alright so I'm going to recount what has happened since my last post. On Thursday, Zain's birthday, I felt like I was getting better but then what do you know? Mother nature steps in again and I get a fever plus a stomach ache! Yay! NO. So I ended up not going to Karma practice and in turn I ended up not going out with Zain and everyone for his birthday. This lead to Zain being upset with me and me of course hurt and annoyed. But, it ended up only being a misunderstanding and all is well again in the world of Zain Ahmed.

Friday went by pretty fast and was a pretty good day. All of my lovelies left for good o'l Mardi Gras while a couple of us stayed back. Karma practice was good, but I didn't dance much because of still being a little bit sick. Afterwards, Sara and I went to Emory Village, had some Panera and One Hot Cookie. When we got back, we ended up watching A Knight's Tale in memory of Heath Ledger. Great movie. RA Ben joined us and in turn he went 'twirly, twirly, twirly'.

Haha Saturday started off interesting. I had much to do last weekend and I wanted to wake up early on Saturday morning so I could get things accomplished. So I set my alarm for 9:30 -- right. Didn't happen. I ended up awakening at 12:30. It took awhile to get ready for the day and by the time I started doing some work it was almost time to head out to Little Five Points. Sara, myself, Robert, and Sharon went out for a fun night out at Edgewood. We went to Target, Barnes & Noble (where I got three novels that I am DYING to read), Figo Pasta for dinner, and Coldstone for dessert. While waiting for the shuttle, Sara "tried" teaching Robert and Sharon how to do the pada-bare....they never got it. When we returned we all watched "Sydney White" and we weren't impressed.

Sunday Sara and I woke up...what do you know...ON TIME! It felt very good to get things done BEFORE noon. It was a very productive day. I studied lots and lots of chemistry because I had a test on Wednesday. Later in the evening everyone returned from Mardi Gras with lots of beads, lots of stories, and a little bit of depression. But, everyone had a blast! Zain gave me a HUGE bag of beads, unnecessarily big....but the best one was a light up weed necklace. Haha. Superbowl was on and what do you know....the Giants won!

Monday went by fast. Chemistry lab was a breeze. More chemistry studying. Just like any normal day.

Tuesday. Happy Mardi Gras! In Hindi class we started watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, but Rakesh uncle kept stopping the movie every 5 seconds...so we didn't get very far. English class was good. Then came bio lab. Wow...so annoying. How can one worksheet take 2 hours, seriously? After lab we went to the DUC for dinner and was it a party. They had the whole place decorated for Mardi Gras. A live band, a man of stilts, fortune teller, balloon maker, and a caricaturist. Neal, Nicole, and I decided to get ours made -- and Neal ended up looking like a little boy. Finally someone was able to see the real Neal. (haha just kidding daddy). Then it was practice time. What a great practice! We learned a new dance called Doriya. It is so much fun!

Wednesday. Had my chemistry test. It was pretty hard but I ended up doing alright on it. After bio lecture was over I had nothing the rest of the day. Came back to the dorm, took a short nap with Sara, and then woke up to start my rough draft paper for english. I took a break from my paper and went with Zain to Zyka. I hadn't been there since before winter break! Chicken 65 was amazing as usual. Came back and finished my paper and then went out again with Zain, Nicole, Beth, and Sue for a Kroger run. I got a bunch of food plus milk which I had been dying to have in my room. Later that evening Neal, Nicole, and I watched Across the Universe and my heart soared. What an amazing movie with amazing songs (of course they are Beatles songs!)

Thursday. Not a good day. Woke up at 11 and went to English class. Had a rough draft workshop. Went by pretty fast. I didn't have anything else the rest of the day until Karma practice. I wasn't really in the mood to go to dance practice but I was excited to dance the new song. Before practice a couple of us went to dinner at the DUC. All of a sudden at dinner An'del comes out of nowhere and surprises me! It was really nice seeing him and got me in better spirits. He was at Emory for a business panel. He said that he came out of the room and just felt Sarah around him --- he looked around and what do you know...there I was! Time for practice. Went, did the necessary running and wall sits. While doing the last wall sit, An'del comes walking up to us....another surprise! I introduced him to the team and he stayed for a bit and watched. He was very impressed with us. We planned to go out for breakfast Sunday morning so I'm really looking forward to that. The rest of practice wasn't all that great. We got a lot accomplished but.....I don't know. I really do try my hardest. I don't understand why some people don't think that. Oh well, that's life. At least I get by with a little help from my friends.

Friday. Today has been a pretty good day. In Hindi class we had a conversation quiz where we had to bargain with a fruit/vegetable vendor. HAHA. My mom would have loved that. Chemistry and Bio were the same as always. Now I am just chilling in my room until it's time again for another Karma practice. Hopefully today's will be better. Maybe I will be able to do my special dance (wink wink Sara). After practice....it's the WEEKEND! Yay! Tonight I will be going out for dinner with Zain to get Mexican and then who knows?! I can't wait for Sunday with An'del...I have been waiting to catch up with him.

Sunjay I miss you!

And, again, I would just like to thank all of my friends who are just so amazing. I love you guys. Thanks for being there for me.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Ugh I Hate Being Sick

Being sick just sucks. SO I thought I was getting better yesterday after having taken my medicine and using my eyedrops. BUT now today I feel even worse. Now I have a fever, cough, runny nose, and a stomach ache. Great, right?

This weekend should be fun though. Pretty much everyone in my dorm is going to Mardi Gras except for me, Sara, Arjun, and Ben. We are going to paaarty it up! I still wish I could have gone to Mardi Gras though. It would have been so much fun staying in Neal's house and seeing where he lives. But we will make our own fun here in the ATL.

Tonight is also the premiere of LOST....ah I'm so excited!!! It is going to be awesome.

And....of course....today is Zain's 23rd birthday. I hope it is a great one and I wish I could go with him and everyone else for his birthday dinner. Again, like I said...being sick just sucks.

Happy Birthday Zain!!!!

Happy 23rd Birthday Zainy!!!

I hope it is amaaaaaazing.....love you.

Never Gone/Forever Loved/Happy Birthday

Though the distance that's between us
Now may seem to be too far
It will never separate us
Deep inside I know you are

Never gone, never far
In my heart is where you are
Always close, everyday
Every step along the way
Even though for now we've gotta say goodbye
I know you will be forever in my life
Never gone

Happy birthday T-man.....I love you

Sorry, sorry....bad joke.

So about that eye problem I was having.....yeah....it didn't get better. My dad ended up calling in a prescription for me around 11:30. And, since I am sick, my wonderful RA Zain took me to CVS to pick it up.

What is there to say about Zain? Well first we can start by saying that he has become like my second brother since I have been at Emory. He is a super genius, even though he tries to hide it, and he is also one of the nicest and most sincere people I have ever known. And on a side note...he tells very very bad jokes (sorry).

When we arrived at CVS around midnight, the guy at the desk told me that I would have to wait for about 45 minutes because of a medical insurance issue. So, Zain and I hung out together and he took me to get a McFlurry...something he knows always cheers me up. Yeah probably not a good idea to eat something cold when I am sick, but it did make me feel better. We arrived back at CVS and I finally got my medicines. While in CVS, Zain tells me he still has to run his samples for his lab research. I couldn't believe it. He left his research to take me to CVS and he waited patiently with me until I got it. Now this is what I mean...he is SO SO NICE!

And the loser that I am, I have never had to put in eye drops before because, let's just say, I have amazing eyes. Up until this point at least. So I returned to Harris and Nicole helped me put in my Vigamox eye drops. Sketchy looking stuff. Let's just hope tomorrow when I wake up, I'll actually open my eyes and possibly be able to breathe.

Tomorrow shall be interesting in more ways then one....

Goodnight everyone...and I leave you with a quote from Leonardo da Vinci:
"Why does the eye see a thing more clearly in dreams than the imagination when awake?"

Are we more polarizeable?

Nicole is shaking her head at me. We are in our Chem SI session and........Neal is staring at his computer or doing something sketch on it. And Nicole wrote "P.S. I hate my life" on our worksheet.

Neal is volunteering Nicole for everything instead of himself....and now Neal is up in front of the class making a fool of himself.

This is my life in a nutshell.

Peace,
geniUS

It's the end of the world.....as we know it.

So I'm sitting here on my bed, having a couple cashews, drinking some diet coke, and trying to not think about how much my left eye hurts. For some reason I woke up this morning with an ENORMOUS amount of gunk coming out of my eyes....enough that when I tried to open my eyes....they wouldn't open. Great feeling to wake up to, right? When I finally got it all out of my eyes, my left eye was really red and my eyelid hurts for some reason. On top of that I am insanely phlegmy and congested. This week is going to be grrrrreat.

Besides that, I'm looking forward (NOT) to doing some english reading. I hope my eye makes it through that. I really want to just lay back and close my eyes and hope that when I open them they actually do open.

My lovely roommate is watching The Terminal right now on her bed all wrapped up in a blanket. Oh, Sara. What would I do without my roomie???? Campus Moviefest is coming up and Sara is really interested in doing it. Last night we were trying to come up with ideas for what we could make our movie on. We didn't get very far so.....got any ideas?

In other news, after looking at summer classes that I can take at home, it might not be possible for me or any of my family to make it to my cousin Alissa's 16th birthday party. I really hope this doesn't happen because nothing means more to me than Alissa. No other person (except for maybe my brother and parents) makes me as happy as she does. She is my closest friend and a hug from her is like hugging the dream you have been longing to capture. I know....lame simile, but can't help it....it's true!

Well it is 5:00pm now and I still have a lot of english reading to do and a Chemistry study session to go to....plus food. I hope everyone has a great evening.

Until tomorrow,
geniUS

Don't know what has come over me...

So I'm not quite sure why I decided to start my own blog. Maybe because my new English professor really enjoys them or maybe because I just want to have a place where I can leave my thoughts and come back to them later. Also, I wanted a place where people I love can come and just catch up with what I am up to.

First I would like to speak about why I called my blog STROKE of a geniUS!
Now in my second semester of college at Emory University...I have met some pretty amazing people and one of these people is Nicole. She is hillllllarious and she always has little sayings that just POP out of her mouth. One of these is, whaddya know? STROKE of a geniUS! When trying to come up with a name for my blog...I was having problems lets just say. Nicole came in my room and she didn't like ANY of the ones I had chosen. And then I just looked at her and I knew. Hahaha.

One reason I wrote it the way I did was of the way it is supposed to be said. You scream STROKE and "of a" just comes off your tongue until you get to genius. One must say geniUS. Another reason I wrote geniUS in this way is because the word US means a lot to me. This blog will not only be for my own use, but for us --- meaning my parents, my friends, and whoever else out there.

I hope you enjoy the daily thoughts of a geniUS....
